Field Guide

The Bog Field Guide contains indices for the Animals and Plants in the bog.

Animals

Vertebrates

We give great thanks to Ron Austing for sharing his bird photos with us for the bird section of the Animal Encylopedia. He is a professional wildlife photographer who has contributed to the Audubon field guides and Thayer's birding software. If you see a photo of a bird that you like here, visit his web site at RonAusting.com to see his other photos. You can order prints from his web site.
All his photos are copyrighted and reproduced here with his permission.

There is also a glossary of terms that may be unfamiliar.

Plants

This pdf file contains a checklist of all the plants in the Bog. It includes both those visible and not visible from the boardwalk so you have a list that can be used when visiting other sites to see what other plants look like in the bog. The checklist is based on the Dave Berry CD. It includes the plant name, blooming month, scientific name, color, and location in the bog.
